Can you post a screenshot from the "Transactions" section in the GUI and also post your transaction id? Which remote node were you using?

Which node are you using? The fee shouldn't take long to calculate in the first place.
Can you reproduce this issue consistently?
Starting the daemon manually would be possible workaround, assuming that you don't use a custom blockchain location.
