Possible to style/modify marker popup?

Wondering if this is on the roadmap at all? https://docs.mapbox.com/help/tutorials/custom-markers-gl-js/ It looks like mapbox.js is deprecated for mapbox.gl.js which lets you style popups with CSS and add HTML to them?
