The VSM8 & VSM16 types glitch. Apparently the issue has now been fixed in BF Blender (see linked tracker from QC above). Should this issue be closed?
@MoritzBrueckner he's using Linux, so it's possible more of an OS dependent issue and can't be produced on a Windows OS.
