Perhaps something like this for web-pandora?  I'm not even sure if the icon wasn't updated again.
Their [favicon](https://www.pandora.com/favicon.ico) is still colourful. 
I'm finding it a little difficult to pick a good base colour that works well with those stripe colours.  For the stripes i might forgo the blue and use...
They weren't really, but I adjusted them to be. 
If the colours are okay I'll make a PR.  
I sat on it for a little while and decided I can do better. What about something like this? 
Not really sure how to split the upper part, so ended up doing this. I think two parts would make for a too noticeable transition.  Looks better with 3...
 
I've not changed the colours yet, but by shadows for each part do you mean in the marked areas?  Because I was thinking the three "gradient" parts are more...
I don't think it's humanly possible to align all the glyph nodes to grid, but something like this still looks pretty legible at 48x48.
