I had a look and vorta does retrieve the complete list of networks configured in NetworkManager. However it only adds them to the internal list and doesn't delete any networks...
Would setting this env var for every operation increase the security risk?

How should Vorta know that you updated your borg version? Running the check every time Vorta starts, doesn't seem viable to me.
