Just wanted to add that I experienced this bug today. I initially renamed `wp-cli.phar` to `wpcli` for convenience sake. Up till now the commands I used (plugin/list|activate|deactivate, core/download) all work...

It is possible to launch atom using the '--no-sandbox' option: $ /snap/bin/atom --no-sandbox As a workaround I created a Bash alias: alias atom="/snap/bin/atom --no-sandbox" which requires that atom be launched...
