Closing this issue as I've just merged @ankane's work in making this the new behaviour for 7.2 onwards. I'm open to have it being the default behaviour for all Rails...

Can you confirm what version of `joiner` is in your Gemfile.lock file? You will need v0.6.0 for Rails 6+.
