@Jacajack I'd probably mirror that design so that you can shift it up 1px or so and the icon looks less right-heavy. As for guidelines, the symbols should be monochrome...

Since all mimetypes are for one application / for electrical engineering files I'd probably use one colout for all. Unless there is a strong colour indication in Kicad.

Are you referring to the different colours of the next/previous icons in your screenshot? That is because you can't go 'next' in that situation. Hence the greying-out.
I see what you mean, these might not be our best-designed icons but we've got worse ones. In your screenshot the icons still "work", they seem to bee off-centre though.
They *work* in the sense that they still show an arrow pointing to a line. Unfortunately we've got icons that do not work in that sense on certain backgrounds, for...
If I find time to work on this I'll probably something entirely new.
