I like the idea, and I think we can afford it since it'd be conditional to QField state being digitize instead of browse.
I'd bind it to the digitizingToolbar being visible or not. If it is, check for the layer currently linked to the toolbar (it can either be the dashboard' selected feature...

@amgiss , are you seeing this behavior when connecting to the official QFieldCloud server (i.e. https://app.qfield.cloud/) ? I can't repeat this behavior on my end, logging in with my username...
I'd look into the hosted server first; you can test QField against app.qfield.cloud and see username log in is still working there.
