Yes, the [player backend](https://github.com/FossifyOrg/Gallery/pull/607) was updated in v1.8.0. I'll check if it's an upstream issue.

If the widget shows the current date and the intent has the time parameter, it is completely valid for the app to open the daily view.

I guess this will be revisited since it has been requested again and again, reopening for now.
