This usually happens because of keybinds - make sure the keybind for opening the internal (right) panel is default (4)
This is addressed in the readme. Transfer a unit of tritium from your carrier to your ship first, this moves tritium to the top of the list.
fuck sake, thanks fdev I'm on holiday at the moment so a fix for this probably won't be soon but I'll look into it when I can. @MoridinUK Ship launching...
Fixed in #52 (overdue I know, I had misplaced hope that fdev would fix it)
