I would want someone who relies on these functions to comment before I merge. It appears that you are changing the semantics... not something I would do without understanding what...
You can use `getReverseLongIterator()` and `getLongIterator()` to get the `last()` and `first()` value respectively.
@richardstartin is correct. The iterators are better, but we could do even better with specialized functions.
