You go from 316.4 ns/op to 220.4 ns/op. Can you provide a rationale as to why your code (which defers to the Go `make` function) is so much faster?
Is that a known standard? I am not familiar with your notation.

I think Robert is correct. The [JSON specification](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc8259.txt) requires that a whole range of characters be escaped (it is a requirement): _All Unicode characters may be placed within the quotation...
