Sling already comes with a validation framework. Hopefully that can be used.

Is this still an issue? Most probably the necessary FileVault RCP bundle is not installed on the server where ACS AEM Tools is called (https://adobe-consulting-services.github.io/acs-aem-tools/features/vlt-rcp/index.html).

I think relying on the currentPage is crucial for working with editable templates (as the request may be dispatched to the resource below the editable template)

Why not rather including the resource type scripts directly in the teaser (proper composition pattern)? That way also things like in-place editing should work as usual.
