В обоих случаях, на мой взгляд, и переключатель, и слайдер — оправданы. on/off — те же радиокнопки/чекбокс по сути, потому совершенно не страшно, если и радиокнопки кто-то привык называть переключателями....

Только, наверное, не «стили», а «таблицы стилей», так как там именно стайлшиты целиком участвуют во всём.
