This may also be a concern for my 26,000+ song Amazon S3 FUSE filesystem usage. I'll be doing more testing of that shortly.

The initial import took a while because it had to pull each song from S3 one at a time. Sending the library index downstream for a new client takes 2-3...

Unfortunately, I need to amend my former statement. Sometimes I start the server and it takes 5-7 minutes to come up. Strace seems to indicate it is setting up filesystem...

This appears to be fixed in master but I don't know when. Disconcerting. Desperately need to write a test suite before next release.

This is a great idea and shouldn't be too hard to implement for local packages. AUR packages I'll have to think on a bit. May try my hand at this...
