I agree. I need to plumb this ability into the [underlying library that manages the Channel](https://github.com/digitalpetri/netty-channel-fsm) and then expose it here.

I've seen this before with other users, and in all cases there's been something wrong with their classloading setup, like running inside an OSGi container but things aren't quite lined...

Is it possible you can wrap this up into a self-contained test case? I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot something like this and I've never seen it happen locally....
