Let's go with the `INSERT IGNORE` for this and progress the issue.

Thanks for the comments @mickaelandrieu. This PR and the symfony updates are now scheduled for the 5.0.0 milestone as our initial look suggests it will require BC breaks.

@peterhashair we would want to use php8.1, if not already then soon. Be worth spending an hour or so understanding what's happening in PHP8.1

The `create_new_visit_when_campaign_changes` setting seems relevant here. There is also the option to use first referrer attribution for conversions with `_paq.push(['setConversionAttributionFirstReferrer', true]);` (as described here: https://matomo.org/faq/general/faq_106/).
