Hm... well, looking at it, I don't know that faculty have that view.
You will want to use the function `turn-on-smartparens-strict-mode`.
@kirk86, evaluating that sexp in my init.el gives a non-nil result. I assume you've tried this from a near-minimal variant of your init.el, yes?
This variable might be worth mentioning in the README file. I had a hard time finding it.
