I have exact the same problem on WordPress 5.4.2.
I did some further testing. I guess the reason is a problem with gulp-autoprefixer ([as described here](https://github.com/sindresorhus/gulp-autoprefixer/issues/108)). Removing the piping to autoprefixer solves the problem (except having a new one...
