I think this isn't the proper platform to fix edge-cases like this. - Shulker spawners don't occur naturally in vanilla generation - Spawners are intended to spawn mobs in air...
I just scrolled around for a bit, and while I think the acceleration can be a bit more aggressive than necessary, I didn't get large spikes anywhere. V0.9.1 & S22+
I like this idea, but wonder if it might be better suited to some sort of third-party 'plugin' system. Allowing other developers to create their own plugins for certain services...
Did some testing and this applies for all statuses, not just unfollowed.

EDIT; going through my watchfaces *all* of them do this. I use gadgetbridge and it turned out to be a file access error I solved with an adb command, there...
