Ok looks like the bug no longer exists in Arrow 8.0.0 likely due to the fix to https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARROW-16025. These additional tests in C++ & Python are still good to add...

All tests have passed except for two that have nothing to do with the PR. Please review. Really thanks!

Hmm how can we add the hive label?

I think this bug is a part of the broader problem of non-SQL Hive commands (listed below) legal in Hive not being parsed. https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/Hive/LanguageManual+Commands

@andygrove @alamb This will be in draft until DataFusion 13.0.0 gets released because we will test it then. I will also change the documentation to reflect the change.
