@raphael - I agree it doesn't sound like a kernel issue - but it definitely seems that the power settings are configured correctly, it's something in between what the power...

@Moovlin - I had suspicions about the speed of suspend - but mine was certainly not suspending, even after several minutes. pm-suspend is pretty much instantaneous.
