Suspend Issues

Open harry947782 opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

I'm having issues with suspend on my Pixel 2015 - latest version of the kernel installed (4.7.2-ph+)

Observations (all with Linux Mint Cinnamon)

  • Shutting the Lid is configured to suspend in the power management settings, this action is definitely but only partially suspends (pretty much just the screen - the lightbar remains active, and it's clear it's all still on - although it will also disable external monitors)
  • systemctl suspend causes a proper suspend (as does pm-suspend)
  • Waking from suspend appears to work fine.

Any ideas?

This doesn't sound like a kernel issue since pm-suspend works. I'm not familiar with Linux Mint but it looks like something isn't configured right there.

@raphael - I agree it doesn't sound like a kernel issue - but it definitely seems that the power settings are configured correctly, it's something in between what the power management applications call and what the kernel does - just trying to track that down isn't easy

@harryman100 This is interesting. I just finished installing Mint Cinnamon on my Pixel 2 and I don't have this issue. I haven't changed any power settings. I have found that the suspend is no where near as fast as it was under Ubuntu/Chrome OS but it does suspend ( 2-3 seconds under Ubuntu to 5ish+ for Mint). The light bar turns off and opening the lid just the slightest bit to see if the screen is still on shows that it is black and seemingly off. I guess try waiting a bit longer to see what happens, because I have noticed that first the few seconds if you open the display up, it'll show the screensaver. It's nearly 1 am and I don't have the energy (read: coffee) to try and work this out, but I think it's a place to start.

@Moovlin - I had suspicions about the speed of suspend - but mine was certainly not suspending, even after several minutes.

pm-suspend is pretty much instantaneous.
