The connection doesn't set any variables. If anyone is doing this, it's ansible-core.

I know too little about how this PR changes the module's behavior to answer that question. That's why I wrote the above text and asked some questions :)

If the file is not encrypted, `encrypted` should always be `false`. Not returning that would be a breaking change. Adding additional information based on `.sops.yaml` would be possible, but not...
I agree with @russoz, the "alternate login credentials" feature doesn't sound like something we should support, unless there is a very good reason for that (I don't see any right...
