Can reproduce. Simply removing the option does not remove the addition, you have to explicitly set it to false. This probably is not expected behavior.

Please resolve the merge conflicts.

I'm hesitant to merge this because of the use of an external tool. I realize the Git module used an external tool, but it's more mainstream and widespread.

I'm not sure how other themes implement this, or how to implement it in the first place. Looking at other themes would probably be a good place to start.
