OK, that's plausible. I'm going to need to dig a little deeper and think about this. Adding mutability is not something we can take lightly.
I wonder if there's anywhere we use the no-args ContextSupport constructor? It doesn't seem very useful without this setter.
There are no such plans. I was planning on deleting it eventually. It has no tests currently, and you're the first person I've ever heard from whose using it.

Those warnings are not new and do not appear to be significant.

I agree that HttpServer based is not the ultimate goal we want to reach with this template. This is a step on the way and not yet user visible.
