Appreciate the effort, but don't want to magically enable (much slower / different) regexp search. Maybe you can convince the Xapian people to make this configurable? Or perhaps it is...
Can you provide an email message where this happens (with specifically what to search for, since unfortuntely I do not read Japanese)? We could add it as a unit-test.

Thanks, that clarifies. I've added a some test cases for this; they do not pass yet, but it gives an automated way to test at least.
Does the `tnef` program work for your attachments? If so, you should be be able to use it from mu4e as well.
There's `mu4e-cache-maildir-list`, does that help?
Hmm... then I guess jump-to-maildir won't work well for you. Could it be made faster? Probably.. but this is a kind of uncommon / extreme scenario, so I'm not sure...
Note, `mu` is just querying a database, it doesn't care how you separate things in maildirs; it can also just search by the from-address, no need manually make folder for...
