I was able to reproduce on a ubuntu linux machine.

When I open the user script editor I see this problem. So there is an additional error shown.

I'll take a look. I don't think I want to merge this as-is (per my comments above). I think there's something more natural to create here for our typescript workflow.

The Range setting didn't have any effect on my plot. This is our sample dataset.

@jtbandes that byte string also occurs in many other places in the file (at least that is what I saw in my hex viewer).
