What is the recommended way to gracefully shutdown?

That is what I thought. No rush, but any plans to have something better?

Abseil should install w/ the correct base/options.h

A suggestion: generate (or modify, but that might be harder) `absl/base/options.h` in the `configure` step. You can even compile a small C++ program, detect if `std::optional`, `std::variant`, etc. are supported...
