As I understand it, we should always compute continuous ZC functions for all relations in the model. Then, we should only "show" the solver the ones that are active. I'm...

OK. I would just avoid to spend too much time optimizing step-ZCFs, which are already sub-optimal by themselves.

@AnHeuermann, could you finalize this issue based on your last comment?

Regarding msl 3.2, I guess homotopy was added afterwards, that may explain what goes wrong. It is possible that the simplifed equation changes the index of the problem. I'm not...

@rfranke, we may have a solution in the pipeline as discussed in [#6200](https://trac.openmodelica.org/OpenModelica/ticket/6200), see PR #7903. Please follow that.

@rfranke, > Here are examples from [Buildings 7.0](https://libraries.openmodelica.org/branches/master/Buildings_maint.7.0.x/Buildings_maint.7.0.x.html) suffering from the same problem. These are 18 out of 76 Buildings models currently failing in the backend: > > ``` >...

Unfortunately, the problem with [SimulationSteadyInitial](https://libraries.openmodelica.org/branches/master/PowerSystems_latest/files/PowerSystems_latest_PowerSystems.Examples.Introductory.SimulationSteadyInitial.err) is still there. It may be related to #6196, that we'll have to address next year to get to 100% Buildings success rate.

Aha, sure. Can you please remind me when you did the commit, so I can check the regression reports? I guess this should go in 1.18.1, because otherwise we have...

> That was in [ba83d81](https://github.com/OpenModelica/OpenModelica/commit/ba83d81e5f1f132591524d50d9e5c8af5043168e). That doesn't seem to be the culprit, no such [regressions back then](https://libraries.openmodelica.org/branches/history/master/2020-11-10%2011:59:47..2020-11-11%2008:31:55.html).
