Scratch that. The markup for buttons is totally different inside the editor vs outside. But the style variations work! We just need a block that has two elements to work...

Thanks to @pento pointing me in the right direction, the Heading block now supports marquee, and the marquee block is no more. Shouldn't be much trouble to fold word art...
