I've found that if I 'sleep 0.5' after nwg-wrapper and before running swaylock/gtklock, it doesn't always display correctly. Increasing the sleep to 1 second fixes it. I daresay this depends...
There's a note in the README about layer 3, but nothing in 'nwg-wrapper --help' output.
