That's not an issue that I've experienced. There's a chance your routes for n/m and enter/newline soldered together. See if they are connected with a multimeter.

Though its worth noting that in Wayland application window sizes are just requests, and the compositor gets priority, leading to this weirdness:  Not sure what the current resizing story...
