I think I skimmed through it a few days ago and it seemed fine. Can you just resolve the merge conflicts?

I do think that this probably makes sense though, and should supersede #3705. I'll review it later.

If the internal remote track models are getting updated despite the calls failing, that sounds like a bug. We shouldn't be drifting between what we think we've sent to trackers...
