This sounds a bit like the feature we have in the SqlServer transport where we can select the database to connect to based on a similar convention like you describe....

That would definitely make things easier and speed up the build times etc so that would be an interesting direction. What use impact would that have?
A quick look show that we would mostly lose support for the old configuration stuff  but we would have to do some more thorough research

I'd say we keep them separated for a while longer since we're heading in the non generic direction ie extremely tied to github. There is obviously loads of overlap so...
