I submitted a PR to kitty today (https://github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty/pull/7973), and it was soon merged.

The fix in kitty seemed to have been released in [kitty v0.37.0](https://github.com/kovidgoyal/kitty/releases/tag/v0.37.0).
