Closing as 3.7.0 rc3 has been tagged and no more module updates are expected.
Adding DNM only because the PR still seems to have some ongoing discussion about the overall idea but it meets the merge criteria so we avoid accidentally merging it.

@pdgendt @keith-zephyr feel free to remove the DNM if you think it should be merged already
@gmarull https://github.com/zephyrproject-rtos/zephyr/pull/75003 went in already, are you happy to get this one merged?
