FYI, the git resolver undergoes some significant changes in #5450.
/approve I'd change the title to reflect that this isn't git resolver specific, since it should be doing this for all resolvers now, right?
I agree with Vincent - `-x` should be removed, but `-e` is a functional change.
I think removing the default `-x` was absolutely a good idea, and I definitely wish that we hadn't specified a default `-e` in the first place, but like you said,...
