Explorer++ has the option to set itself as the default file manager from Tools > Options, then there's a "Default File Manager" section on the window that opens.

I see something similar on Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon. Additionally I also struggle to get any keyboard shortcuts other than the default ctrl+alt+e and not using Super to work either.
