I'm having this too with some checkpoints, but not all. So I suspect it's got something to do with the files themselves maybe?

I'm not sure how recent mine is, but not more than a few days. Today I tried with 25 images instead of 40 with 2.1 768px, and it works beautifully...

I think I just trained a model with 2.1 on a 16BG GPU, don't know which though. Maybe you are on 12GB and are running out of memory? For 25...

Just commenting that this is apparently not still fixed? Now I'm resuming a run which originally had 500 steps, but now the amount of steps is set to 2000, and...

I deleted everything and ran from a clear slate, now things seem to work again :)
