I am so sure this is something that can be fixed easily, is it because of vocal sounds not attached to FlxG.sound.group?
I don't think this would change much since getting source time from OpenAL have a delay of somewhere 30ms, thus getting the same value in 2-3 frames in 60fps
but it still won't do much, updating time per frame is enough, constantly calling internal function just to get the same value is not okay
Why change if statements to mix?
Any plan to do this the same to openfl GraphicsShader too?
I think you could change the capitilzation to "frameRate" in favor of FlxAnimation

I misread this as rework flxsound like entirely, because i've did reworked the flxsounds once in one of gulp... FNF engine, which is still a mess that i was thinking...
Maybe don't restrict MUSIC asset type to lime_vorbis in the future? since who knows if lime is going to add another format being able to streamed beside vorbis
