I never had this problem with my RX 580 running drm-510-kmod. However, I can confirm I'm still seeing it with a UHD Graphics 620, and drm-515-kmod or drm-61-kmod.

After a search over the DRM bugs database, this issue might be related to: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/i915/kernel/-/issues/5969 even if the kind of visual corruption I'm getting is quite different than that visible...

All the problems I mentioned above were fixed by switching to Xorg's `modesetting` driver (instead of `intel`). So closing this.

Given the lack of answers, and the fact that since then the code of `mdo(1)` has considerably changed, closing this. Feel free to re-open, rebase changes and cater to comments...
