Thats strange. I do not think it is related to the hardware, because with FluidNC it works at my hardware without any problems. Only if i use gSender or Candle...

Maybe just use the esp eval board and check the step pulses with an logic analyzer? Normaly you should see the interruptions clearly in the step pulses.
No i have not tried, but i see the interruptions in the step signals straight out of the esp too.
