Moved the code as proposed to the merger and also added according tests
The test for linux itself was wrong ('\\' vs '/'), my bad :-).
@gasparnagy Where are we here? Can we merge this change back?
We used the file-based mechanism and it worked with other processes, but as soon as we use the dotnet process it is not working.
