This also happens in Driv3r (and probably Driver: Parallel Lines). Could be the same issue since all of them were made by Reflections.
This bug occurs also on other surfaces, like the shadow around this light. ****
Just asking, have you unlocked the lantern before entering the cave? I'm unable to reproduce the bug in the PAL version, probably because I have the lantern... EDIT: even without...
The diseapparing geometry is actually a side-effect of using the VU Overflow Hack, but that's needed to fix the major SPS issues.
I can answer for that @MrCK1 I recently tested it and it needs VUSync (it's now added to the database) but you still need to manually set the EE slider...
v1.7.5196 caused a regression even with the current gamefix.

With your settings the crackling is gone in Requiem, I will test Shadow Man later and report here. EDIT: Shadow Man is fixed too. Thank you AITUS95.
Tested with v1.7.5815 and it seems fixed on both renderers. Scratch that, it still needs the patch.
