I believe the new alternative in 7+ is Pathname.new(path_name).exist?

yeah having the same issue the instructions aren't clear

added a fix for this here https://github.com/hcengineering/platform/pull/5253

I don't think it is. It's open-source so im going to fork it and try to address some of the issues here
