After options crashes it doesn't show that options are available for the screensaver, even after reboot.

Cause: The system preferences crash is caused by the square size being too big for the preview screen, causing the app to crash when modifying the size in system preferences....

By using ScreenSaverDefaults rather than UserDefaults multiple instances of the app can run at once on multiple screens. Here is the documentation on it: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/screensaver/screensaverdefaults.
