It might be a bit OT, but I would also suggest to add a font for people with dsylexia like OpenDyslexic (https://github.com/antijingoist/opendyslexic).

From what I've seen so far, the benefits of upgrading are improved performance (https://github.com/vsch/flexmark-java/wiki/Version-0.60.0-Changes) and better handling of MarkDown extensions (flexmark-all).

org mode navigation behaviour to be more consistent with markdown mode

I work on a parser for MarkDown and AsciiDoc, that converts into the same elements. Maybe it also can be done for OrgMode. But it needs some time.
