Seems like this issue just needs a little push :-) Hope to see it in next release.
@josecv Yes, I do have multiple files in my $KUBECONFIG like: echo $KUBECONFIG `~/.kube/config:~/.kube/ubuntu_local:~/.kube/ubuntu_internet` I have tried making `~/.kube/config` only containing my local KinD cluster - but same result.
Any alternatives?

Thanks @aanm Good suggestion, I moved on to not have external etcd and used stacked - it works. I will at some later point try again using external etcd.
Just a note; this is still an issue if you are using external etcd.
